“Hi Paul,

Just wanted to let you know I took the time to read your chapter and boy do I wish I had sat down and read it all sooner!

I think reading it was perfectly timed as I have a desire and goal to lose weight and get fit and the words were just so inspiring, it’s going to be a piece I refer to often over the next 6 months.

The chapter is inspiringly honest, beautifully raw and quite frankly eye openly motivational. It echos the need to remind ourselves that anyone can achieve any goal they set as-long as they stay true to the goal and true to themselves and keep on fighting in whatever form that may be.

This chapter is also a real and true representation of how the body can adapt and change to the unknown when it becomes the norm, explained so beautifully in how you progressed from your 32 lengths to swimming the channel.

I am very grateful for the opportunity to read this chapter and would like to congratulate you on all that you have achieved.”

“My biggest takeaways from Paul Hopfensperger’s story:

1. Swimming all the way from England to France is not an easy challenge. Paul succeeded in swimming the English Channel by changing his philosophy, focusing his mind on his goal, and learning the skills required to achieve his target. Inspired by Jim Rohn words “Don’t wish it were easier, wish you were better. Don’t wish for less problems, wish for more skills”, Paul never negotiated with his dream and reached his goal 3 times.

2. “Everything worthwhile is this life is an uphill battle”. You first have to try… until you succeed, and the key is to never give up.

3. When self-doubt creeps in, keep your target in mind and keep moving! If not, you’ll reach the end of your life full of regrets. Would you rather suffer the pain of discipline or the pain of regret? This is your choice. Make sure you make the best one!

Thank you, Paul Hopfensperger, for showing us that we can get better at anything we choose to do, if we try! More info: “Bringing Value, Solving Problems and Leaving a Legacy” (p. 70)”
